This is a very popular filter for active traders ( rightly so), and therefore it is not uncommon for you to accidentally include it in a Window where you’re trying to catch moves in the pre-market. The most common offender in this category is the RELATIVE VOLUME filter. In other words, these filters are returning a null value before the market opens and therefore since ALL filters aren’t being satisfied by any stocks, you’re experiencing what appears to be a dead window. And the reason for this is because certain filters within Trade Ideas only work with Regular Trading Hours data. Similar to the above “Why didn’t stock XYZ show up…” entry, it is because you are employing a filter that isn’t being satisfied. It’s 8:45am ET and you’re just staring at a blank window wondering WTF? Users will often find that a Top List or Alert Window they’ve carefully crafted offers ZILCH before the market opens. Make sure you’ve got the OTC and pink sheet exchanges selected!īut don’t feel bad, we’re all human and we all make silly mistakes and “user errors” daily. This happens a lot with users looking for alerts on microcap and penny stocks. Of course, the other - though less often - reason might be that you don’t have the proper exchanges selected in your configurations. So, whenever you’re not getting the alerts you think you deserve, check your filters and start modifying or eliminating until you’ve isolated the one that isn’t being satisfied. And in the case of Alert Windows on Trade Ideas, ALL filter parameters must be satisfied in order for an alert to be fired. They are big dumb machines that only do precisely what you instruct them to. The thing is, computers and servers are dumb. Oh sh*t this Trade Ideas software is BROKEN! Nope, sorry to say it, but nearly 99% of the time, the reason an alert didn’t land in your Alert Window at the time you claim it should have is due to the fact that you’ve got a filter in place that isn’t being satisfied. Professional traders have to pay more, but that money goes entirely to the exchanges.Professional traders have to fill out more paperwork. Professional and non-professional traders receive the same software and data from Trade-Ideas. (b) engaged as an “investment advisor” as that term is defined in Section 201(11) of the Investment Advisor’s Act of 1940 (whether or not registered or qualified under that Act), nor (c) employed by a bank or other organization exempt from registration under Federal and/or state securities laws to perform functions that would require him or her to be so registered or qualified if he or she were to perform such functions for an organization not so exempt. This is how the NYSE defines a non-professional trader: any natural person whom Vendor has determined to qualify as a “Nonprofessional Subscriber” and who is not: (a) registered or qualified with the Securities and Exchange Commission (the “SEC”), the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, any state securities agency, any securities exchange or association, or any commodities or futures contract market or association. If you were a professional, you would probably know it. Almost all of our users are non-professional traders.
